The next Grand Theft Auto game may be a little different than we’re used to.
GTA 6 is currently in the early stages of development, according to reports, and it could end up being more of a live service title like GTA Online compared to recent entries in the series.
A new Kotaku report, which follows up on their investigation into a culture of crunch described by several Rockstar employees, also addresses plans for the future of the studio. In particular, it states that a plan for the next GTA has been developed by the Rockstar management.
The Kotaku report never refers to it as GTA 6, just as “a new entry” in the Grand Theft Auto series. The sequel will reportedly be a “moderately sized” game at launch and then be expanded through regular updates. makes it sound like Rockstar aims to incorporate GTA Online’s structure and format into the next big update of GTA.
It seems like steps are being taken in the right direction, although it is clear that this is the start of the process as one employee said it “feels like it’s just starting up.”
