Hackney Police officers are set to start wearing body cameras from this week. Around 500 officers and community support officers will be rolled out with the cameras.
Officers are expected to inform members of the public when the camera is rolling, as they won’t be armed all the time. The film captured by the camera will be uploaded automatically to Scotland Yard servers, and the public will be able to access any footage of themselves upon request.
The Met have said that these body cameras will create a greater level of transparency and bring about swifter justice for victims.
