If you’re reading this, and you drive, you’ve probably been given a parking ticket at least once. Getting back into your car, frustrated, mumbling how you’re in the right and why you shouldn’t have got a ticket. Chances are, not many of us actually appeal the tickets, we end up paying them. A teenager from North London has made things a whole lot easier for everyone now.
Joshua Browder, 18, created the website ‘donotpay.co.uk’, after receiving a bunch of tickets shortly after passing his driving test. Being 18 you could imagine that having to pay for the tickets would be a massive dent in your wallet.
When you go onto the website, you enter your details i.e where you’re from etc, then it’ll give you twelve options to which a customised appeal will be created and will be relevant to your council due to the information you gave them.
With the customised appeal, you can now actually fight the tickets you’re being given instead of paying for them, simply because you may not have had the time to appeal. With the help of the website it’s evident that it is quick, it takes minutes to sign up and get your customised appeal.
Due to its popularity the site has received some serious traffic, experiencing a couple of crashes. However Joshua has made improvements and added more features each time. Joshua says he wants to keep the service free so he can help everyone who gets as aggravated with tickets as he does.
What are your thoughts on this? Will you use the website? Have you just been given a ticket which you don’t want to pay? Let us know in the comments below.
