The top five wealthiest hip-hop artists 2018 have been announced by Forbes and Jay-Z takes the top spot from Diddy.

Somewhat a shock to many, after a long running of eight years at the top, Diddy has finally been knocked off the pedestal by none other than Jay-Z… confirming that him and Beyonce and the ultimate power couple in this game. How did he do it? Well, Jay managed to increase his net worth by a massive $90 million over the past year. This was all through alcohol. From a net worth of $810 million to a massive $900 million to date.

The profit is thought to have come from a number of differing business ventures including his streaming service Tidal, his stake of Armand De Brignac as well as Roc Nation. People really aren’t playing around when they say that you need to invest, it’s obviously payed off for Jay-Z.

Whilst Diddy is no longer at the top, he’s still doing good for himself with a net worth of $825 million. The rapper’s worth increased by a steady $5 million last year through his investments in multiple liquor companies such as Ciroc, DeLeon Tequila and Diageo.

Coming in at number three is Dr. Dre who has remained in the same place since last year, although increasing his net worth from $740 million to $770 million. Dre is the oldest man on the list at the humble age of 53, all down to his Beats headphone range with Apple.

So this year, there is no number five. Just a tie at number four between Drake and Eminem. A dramatic financial difference from Jay-Z himself, Drake and Eminem are each estimated to be worth $100 million. Eminem seems to have returned to the list as a result of his latest album, while Drake is the youngest man on the list at 31 years old.
