Holy Beef is a short urban comedy produced by HAUS Pictures and Alex Williams in collaboration with Diverse Voices. Written by Dwayne Gumbs who is co-directing with Iain Simpson, the story follows a day in the life of young up and coming Grime MCs ‘The Block’. On the morning of their end of college showcase, their leader member Slicker falls ill with the mumps, not only jeopardising their chances of performing but also going head to head with their bitter rival MCs, 78. Just when all hope is lost, their prayers are answered in the form of the most unlikely of heroes, Slicker’s bible-wielding identical twin brother Jeffrey.
Can the devoutly religious, prim and proper Jeffrey with the help of guest star D Double E be “Grimey” enough to convincingly pass off as his brother and pull off the show?
Holy Beef is part of Film London’s prestigious London Calling scheme which you can find our more about here http://filmlondon.org.uk/holy-beef
The film is a great opportunity to support a project that shines a positive light on growing up in inner-city London and provides professional opportunities both on and off-screen for the raw talent that performing arts in education company Diverse Voices works with on a daily basis.
