While claims of hacking on Houseparty continue to emerge on the net, the owner of the app has now offered $1million (£810, 750) for evidence that the company is a victim of a smear campaign.

The official Houseparty twitter account tweeted: “We are investigating indications that the recent hacking rumors were spread by a paid commercial smear campaign to harm Houseparty.

“We are offering a $1,000,000 bounty for the first individual to provide proof of such a campaign to [email protected].”

The company believes claims of hacking have been made up in an attempt to discredit the brand. Houseparty has also reassured its users that their information is safe.

“All Houseparty accounts are safe – the service is secure, has never been compromised, and doesn’t collect passwords for other sites,” they wrote in a tweet yesterday (March 30).

Since coronavirus is forcing many people so stay indoors to keep safe, Houseparty has been the choice of app for many wishing to have group calls with friends.

The company has said it feels “humbled and “grateful” for brining people together in these uncertain times.
