Yesterday, big-hit actor and DJ Idris Elba released an album inspired by his character in the hit TV show “Luther”.
‘Murdah Loves John’ is a record produced by Elba and co-producer Fred Cox. Sonically, it’s very reflective of the gritty nature of the characters from the TV show, with Elba using London-based vocalists to give the album a genuinely urban sound.
Elba told BBC Newsbeat “[The album] is about London, and it should feel like its from the show”.
Artists featured on the album most notably include Tanika, Shakka and Wretch 32, with the North London rapper being shown off on the title track.
“Luther” returned to household TV screens last night amidst a lot of anticipation following a 2-year break. In the show, Idris Elba plays a near-genius murder detective.
