The latest guest to sit down with Dotty on Apple Music’s Blackout Radio series to celebrate Black History Month is renowned producer JAE5.
To many he’s known as the man behind some of the biggest tracks coming out of the UK but during this chat, we get to know a bit more about JAE5 as he opens up about his Ghanaian heritage and his first memories of going back home.
We also hear JAE5 speak on whether he has aspirations to move back to Ghana, Britishness and the rise of African culture across the glove.
“African songs have hit audiences we didn’t think we could”, he says. “Not that we didn’t think, it just seemed extremely difficult to achieve. We had one-off songs, like 2Face would have African Queen and that one song would go nuts, and then that was it for another two years. Whereas we’re constantly having songs fire off now.”
