Former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said heavily regrets incident where he was captured spitting at a young girl and father.

On Saturday, Carragher was filmed spitting from his car to another vehicle after Liverpool had lost 2-1 against Manchester United during their Premier League fixture. The altercation that took place over the weekend has not only tainted the ex-footballers reputation, but also cost him his pundit job with Sky.

Sky decided to take further action after the incident had hit the press by suspending the ex-footballer; whether its a permanent or temporary decision we are yet to find out. However, Sky they ruled that they are taking the incident “extremely seriously”.

Various colleagues, such as former Manchester United and England defendant Gary Neville, have acknowledged that Carragher had made a mistake. He said, “I’ve just watched Jamie Carragher say sorry, no excuses he’s made a big mistake.”

Meanwhile sport minister Tracy Crouch has vowed Carragher’s behaviour as “disgusting” and believes Sky Sports have taken the right action in suspending Carragher.

Carra took to Twitter where he posted the following; “Totally out of order & I’ve apologised personally to all the family this evening. i was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag. No excuse Apologies.”

The ex-footballer later appeared on Sky News, where he acknowledged that his behaviour was wrong stating, “It looks awful and i accept that. It’s not something I’ve done before and not something I’ll do again. Its a stain on my character and i have to accept that.”
