East London based Grime artist and producer, Jammer BBK, speaks to rain and stain repellent shoe spray company Crep Protect about the culture and preserving it, as part of their ongoing Art of Protection series.
Jammer, is a member of the grime collective Boy Better Know, with artists Skepta and JME, and runs Lord of The Mics, a well-known battle-rap competition, which was recently shouted out by Canadian rapper Drake as an essential part of the UK scene.
Jason Black, co-founder and director of Crep Protect, also known as rapper J2K, has known and worked with Jammer for many years.
Black comments, “Jammer is a founding member of the UK grime scene and as such was an ideal person to speak to about the evolution of the culture and how and why it needs to be protected as part of that process of growth.”
Jammer adds “The UK scene has grown beyond just the music – it’s language, fashion, lifestyle – everything. Brands like Crep Protect and Lord Of The Micsare integral to protecting and elevating the culture and we need to work together to keep these ‘inhouse’.”
