South London R&B star-girl Jaz Karis is back with her new Dear Jaz EP, alongside visuals for “Come Outside”.
For the seven-track ensemble, Jaz bags soulful production from Fred Cox, emil and Skillkey and calls upon Kojey Radical for a lone guest spot on the opening track, “Dear Jaz”.
“Side Of You” is amongst the EP’s standout moments, with a jazz-driven backdrop and pearly vocal riffs reminiscent of Bilal, Ledisi and Corinne Bailey Rae. Equally, the Eyes and Alex Blake-produced “2Night” houses one of Jaz’s most captivating vocal performances paired with a mellow piano medley.
“Come Outside” is also worthy of discussion. This track sees Jaz experiment with vocal pitch and minimal production throughout. For the visuals — directed by 1SRAEL — Jaz is depicted wandering across the beach, as a green-tinged camera lens captures her.
The EP follows Jaz’s well-received 2020 project All Eyes On U, and a wide array of singles such as “Home” and “Motions” from last year. With seven tracks of vocal gold, R&B and neo-soul fans will find plenty to appreciate about Dear Jaz.
