On season 4, episode 2 of the Next Up series, JBEE truly makes his presence felt.
Both of the beats he selects are incredible. The violin over the thumping beat in the first half creates the perfect platform for JBEE to flawlessly glide over the instrumental. It feels like you really get to know him and his story through this freestyle.
He raps about his grind and mission to make it out the ends with the gift he’s been given, which is music. The hook he creates fits in perfectly and sticks in your head with a clever Drake reference.
On the second half of the track, the beat slows down, JBEE also switches up his flow a little. The content though is still just as strong – he gets deeper about things that went on in his past and how he feels trapped in his city at times.
Overall, on this Next Up freestyle, JBEE shows how skilled of a rapper he is. His ability to tell his story while keeping you engaged from start to finish is exceptional.
