Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos could be the world’s first trillionaire according to new estimates.
Bezos is currently the world’s richest man with a net worth of $143 billion (£117 million) but in a recent study by Comparisun, his earnings are expected to increase rapidly over the next six years.
The study analysed 25 of the highest companies on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as the net worth of the world’s 25 richest people, and calculated both in relation to the average yearly percentage growth. Comparisun’s results found Jeff Bezos is very likely to be a trillionaire by 2026 – which would make him the first trillionaire in history.
As most people are being forced to shop online due to the coronavirus pandemic, Amazon has seen a drastic increase in demand in recent times, resulting in a reported $75.5 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2020 and adding to Bezos’ riches.
