Controversial football player Joey Barton has landed himself in some of the most serious trouble he’s been in to date.
He has been officially charged by the Scottish Football Association for breaking the rules related to gambling on football matches.
He’s accused of placing 44 bets between July 1 and September 15 this year, during his most recent stint as a player for Rangers.
The 34 year old midfielder has until October 12 to respond to the charges, while a hearing date in court has been set for October 27.
Barton has will only be returning to training with his team mates next Monday, after already serving a three-week suspension for an internal falling out at Rangers.
All players, staff and officials are prohibited on any football matches across the world, according to SFA rules in Scotland.
