John Boyega and Robert De Niro are just two names to feature in an upcoming Netflix thriller set in the world of Formula One.
Titled The Formula, the movie follows an American F1 driver – thought to be played by Boyega – who becomes a getaway driver in order to save his family after getting involved with the mafia.
The film will be written, directed and produced by Gerard McMurrary, who has previously created projects such as The First Purge and Burning Sands.
McMurray wrote on Instagram: “Feels amazing to see this idea in my head finally come to life that I’m writing, directing, and producing.
“My new production company Buppie Productions is teaming up with Tribeca Films and Netflix to bring to you a dope original film coming soon called The Formula starring two of my favourite actors, John Boyega and Robert De Niro.
“It’s the story of a young man from Detroit who becomes an international racing star in the world of Formula One under the tutelage of his mentor with old mob ties.”
News of Boyega’s role in The Formula comes after he recently received a nomination for Best Actor In A Limited Series Made For TV for his role in the Small Axe series.
