Set for release in 2021, the rise and fall of Black Panther activist Fred Hampton will be displayed on the big screen in the form of Judas and the Black Messiah and now the first trailer for the film has been revealed courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.
Starring British actor Daniel Kaluuya, the dramatic trailer for the new film is dedicated to the life of enigmatic activist Hampton [played by Kuulaya]. Shaped over the intricate details of the young man who became Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Blank Panther Party, the movie explores themes of police brutality and the inequality and discrimination experienced by Black people in the 1960s.
During the trailer, we hear Kaluuya declare “You can kill a freedom fighter, but you can’t kill freedom” – words which resonate deeply following the Black Lives Matter protests which took place across the world following the death of George Floyd.
