Wunmi Bello has welcomed British Ghanaian record producer, musician and KISS FM presenter Juls on her show to talk about his life, career and love for music.
Opening up about his childhood, Juls talked about what life was like growing up in Clapton and later Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and he also discussed his early days as a producer. “Kanye West is the reason why I started making beats,” he says.
Juls was an investment banker at the time when made the beat for Mr Eazi’s “Skin Tight” in 2014, after an Arsenal game.
It was also around this time he started getting in contact with artists such as Burna Boy, Davido, Wiz Kid, Drake and Rita Ora.
Even though he was making beats, Juls kept his 9 to 5 job to maintain his financial stability. This, however, soon became exhausting, especially when he started getting booked for gigs in the U.S.
Juls would take a day off or call in sick at the end of the week, go DJ in the U.S over the weekend, and then go back to work on Monday straight from the airport.
