Child sex offence cases are always horrifying but this one is particularly grotesque. A man in Brisbane who had been impersonating teen heartthrob Justin Bieber online in order obtain indecent images and potentially more from his young and vulnerable underage victims.
Gordon Douglas Chambers, 42, who lectures at Queensland University, now faces 931 child sex offences reportedly dating back a decade. His charges include rape and making child exploitation material. Chambers was already facing several charges in Queensland however the number was increased to the staggering 931 after his computer was seized and examined.
His victims come from around the globe including up to 20 in the UK and around 50 in the USA. Cases like this further highlight how careful and vigilant parents need to be when it comes to giving their children access to the internet. Bieber, who’s currently on tour in Australia, said that he is horrified by these events.
