Beliebers might be finally getting recognition for the religion they’ve always been a part of. After cancelling the remaining 14 dates of his world tour, it appears that Justin Bieber may be planning to start his own church. No, really.

He ended the tour early claiming to be “burned out” and exhausted from months on the road, but now sources are claiming that the Beibs is occupied with “reconnecting with his faith” and starting up his own church.

“I am led to believe that the real reason he has come off the road is because he wants to reconnect with his faith and he may be even planning to start his own church,” a spokesperson from Australian news outlet Today Extra said, after speaking to sources close to JB at the annual Hillsong Church Conference in Sydney.

He continued, “We know that he was in the country a few weeks ago having meetings and attending the big Hillsong convention that they had here. [He’s] very close to a lot of the Hillsong people.

“Whether he’s looking at teaming up with them in something of a more permanent situation or doing some sort of religious activity on his own – starting his own church – we’re not quite sure, but that’s the word from an inside source.”

Bieber is closely linked to “rock star preacher” Carl Lentz, who is a Hillsong church superstar. Lentz has joined Bieber on the road during the Purpose tour, including visiting New Zealand with him earlier this year.

Bieber apologised to his fans, saying; “I love you guys, I think you guys are awesome. Sorry for anyone who feels disappointed or betrayed, it’s not in my heart [or] anything, and have a blessed day.”

The cancellation was announced through a statement on his website, which reads:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts. Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the Purpose World Tour over last 18 months. He is grateful and honoured to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across 6 continents during this run.”
