Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci has suggested his mate Moise Kean is partly to blame for the racism he received during a recent game against Cagliari.

19-year-old Kean was subjected to racist abuse throughout the game as fans made monkey chants at the player.

Following his 85th minute goal which secured the win for Juventus, Kean went to celebrate in front of the home fans who then proceeded to direct more abuse at the striker.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia after the game, Bonucci said: “There were racist jeers after the goal.

“I think the blame is 50/50, because Moise shouldn’t have done that and the Curva (Cagliari’s fans) should not have reacted that way”.

Kean has since responded to the incident by tweeting a single emoji.

Attempts were made to stop the abuse during the game by Juventus’ skipper Giorgio Chilleni and Cagliari’s captain Luca Ceppitelli.

The incident in Italy comes after England were confronted by racist abuse during their matchup against Montenegro in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
