Kamal., the talented artist, has unveiled an engaging music video for his remarkable track “crowded places”, filmed amidst the bustling streets of Tokyo.
Directed by Alistair McVeigh and Samuel Adjaye, the visually stunning video captures the essence of the artist’s poignant lyrics and showcases his desire to bring the audio to life. Speaking on its release, he said, “[This] is a song I wrote about feeling lonely even in the busiest of places. When, regardless of all the surrounding noise, you shut yourself inside your head. Tokyo is one of the busiest cities in the world, but there is a lot of conversation about isolation, and seclusion within the younger population, so it made a lot of sense to shoot the video there.
“A lot of the video is shot in Shibuya crossing, the busiest crossing in the world, so that was ironically pretty anxiety inducing. But after we wrapped we played a great festival show in Yokohama and I was reminded that equally there’s a real intimacy that can be found in crowds.”
