The nominees for Ivor Novello’s 2021 Rising Star Award have been announced and among the names acknowledged is north-west London singer Kamal.
The teenager is in the running for the Award – which recognises the achievements and potential of young musicians – alongside the likes of Allegra, Holly Humberstone, Rachel Chinouriri and Willow Kayne.
The Ivors’ Rising Star Award with Apple Music aims to “discover, support, and accelerate the careers of the most promising music creators”, with each nominee receiving a year-long mentorship from a well-established Academy member and leaders from Apple Music.
Kamal’s nomination comes amid a busy few months for the artist who recently released his debut EP, War Outside, following his appearance on Dave’s “Mercury”.
The full shortlist for the 2021 Ivors will be revealed on 10th August while the winners across all categories will be announced on Tuesday 21st September 2021.
