To say the relationship between Kanye West and J. Cole is strained is an understatement and a new leaked snippet proves this.
The demo is said to have come from a previously unheard verse Kanye provided for Pusha T’s “What Would Meek Do?”, taken from his critically-acclaimed 2018 LP Daytona.
In the snippet, Kanye can be heard rapping: “You heard Cole on that song/he was tryna hate”, before the track cuts off.
Fans have speculated Kanye is referring to J. Cole’s verse on “False Prophets”, which many believe is aimed at Yeezy.
More recently, some of J. Cole’s lyrics on “Middle Child” have been considered a sub at Kanye, specifically “If I smoke a rapper, it’s gon’ be legit…it won’t be ‘cause my s**t ain’t selling the same/it won’t be to sell you my latest lil’ sneakers”.
Avid rap fans have speculated J. Cole was referring to Kanye’s feud with Drake, claiming he engaged in the rap beef to sell his Yeezy trainers.
Now a new snippet of Kanye calling out Cole has leaked, will J. Cole respond to West on record? Time will tell.
