To take a stand against popular streaming platforms, Kanye West has announced his upcoming album, Donda 2, will only be available on Stem Player.

Ye took to Instagram to reveal that fans will be able to listen to and download Donda 2 exclusively on Stem Player and “not on Apple, Amazon, Spotify or YouTube”.

“Today artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes,” Kanye wrote in a caption. “It’s time to free music from this oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own. Go to stemplayer.com now to order.”

Stem Player – which was launched by Yeezy Tech and Kano Computing last August – is a device that costs around £200 and allows users to customise songs by isolating different elements of a track – such as vocals, drum, bass and music. Stem Player users can also download new music on the website.

Donda 2 is expected to arrive on the platform on February 22. The release of the album will also be accompanied by an event at Miami’s LoanDepot Park stadium where Ye will perform live at a show titled “Kanye West: Donda Experience Performance.”
