The flag for UK alternative rap continues to be flown by an enclave of talent dispersed throughout the country. Kasien is one such torchbearer and has been for a while.
His unique musical and wider artistic vision has been praised within the underground over the last two years, but his new release “Breathe” may just push him into the mainstream.
“Breathe” is industrial to the core. With a monochrome aesthetic throughout the video matching the gritty, skeletal sonics of the track, Kasien demonstrates his ability to compose an entire artistic package. The result is an immersive one-and-a-half-minute experience, with mesmerising flows and hypnotic chants of “Breathe”.
This is a great introduction to Kasien if you’re just catching on. Equally so though, if you’re a veteran fan of the rapper you won’t be disappointed at all.
