Far-right columnist and commentator Katie Hopkins has finally been permanently banned from Twitter due to “hateful conduct”.
A spokesperson for Twitter confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us – abuse and hateful conduct have no place on our service and we will continue to take action when our Rules are broken.
“In this case, the account has been permanently suspended for violations of our Hateful Conduct policy”.
Users who attempt to access her Twitter account are met with a message that reads: “Account suspended. ‘Twitter suspends accounts which violate the Twitter rules.”
Hopkins’ permanent Twitter ban comes after a petition – which was signed by over 70,000 people – was launched to remove her from the social media platform.
Calls for her to be banned from Twitter have been made several times over the years, but picked up recently after she hit out at Marcus Rashford over his remarkable campaign to provide school children with free food vouchers over summer, as well as her recent attack on Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson.
Katie Hopkins isn’t new to Twitter bans as she was temporarily suspended earlier this year for violating the website’s anti-hate policy but now, she has been removed from the Twitter sphere for good.
