Lady Ice has been making a name for herself as a name to watch out of Manchester for a while now. Marking her entrance onto the scene back in 2018 with “Do That For”, she’s had to stay consistent and persistent in the grind for success and recognition.

It finally appears that time is upon us, with the release of her debut Fire In The Booth surely cementing her status as an artist you need to know in the current UK rap scene.

It’s all very well having the opportunity to make a mark though – you still have to deliver. Lady Ice ensured she did just that, proceeding to shell for over five minutes on two different beats. The first sees her ride a choppy, grime-inspired beat with ease, demonstrating her rhythmic versatility and lyrical prowess. The second sees her take on a much slower, reflective beat, which she matches with gritty stories and lyrical imagery to boot. Undoubtedly, it’s a strong performance which demonstrates further why Lady Ice is someone you need to look out for.

It’s great to see Fire In The Booth remain true to its roots (despite its global commercial success) and continue to give opportunities to young, hungry rappers. After all, this is how the platform first came to be, so seeing Charlie continue to give deserving people this ever-growing platform is a beautiful thing.

Be sure to keep it locked on GRM for future Lady Ice and FITB updates, and check out the full freestyle above.
