Birmingham’s Lady Sanity and Cuzn Fred have teamed up to give us their joint EP, A Problem Shared.
Clocking in at just 16 minutes, the EP is a brief one but its length doesn’t affect the quality of the project as Lady Sanity flaunts her insane MCing abilities while Cuzn Fred displays his intricate production skills over 5 tracks. A Problem Shared is a lively body of work and includes hard-hitting tracks such as “My Ones” and “Pally Pally”.
Of the project, Lady Sanity said: “The inspiration behind the project lyrically is all based on people, conversations and situations I’ve seen growing up in Birmingham. The areas I’m from are often shown in a negative light, but when you actually live in them, you’re able to see the good, the determination and power it takes to become something and defeat the odds.”
Fred also commented: “When making the EP I wanted to make some grime that was a little different from what’s out there and I think between me taking influences from other genres like jungle and Sanity’s hard hitting, meaningful lyrics we’ve managed to achieve that. One of things that I’m most happy with is the fact it’s an all Brum affair.”
