Singer and producer Lil Silva has gifted us with two new tracks titled “What If?” and “Leave It”, taken from his newly-announced debut LP.
“What If?” sees Lil Silva team up with Montreal resident Skiifall who unleashes his bars over a production inspired by reggae, bashment and grime. Compared to “What If?”, “Leave It” is a lot more steady in tone as Charlotte Day Wilson’s vocals gently grace Silva’s euphoric instrumental.
Both tracks are set to feature on Lil Silva’s upcoming debut album, Yesterday Is Heavy, which is out on July 15th. The LP is nearly 10 years in the making and has been described by Silva as a project “about stepping outside of a comfort zone”.
“It’s about heft and heart but mostly about hope,” he wrote when announcing the album on Instagram. “It’s taken me a long time to get to this stage, but I appreciate the value of taking time and I don’t regret it. Yesterday is heavy but tomorrow is forever.”
