Rapper Lil Uzi Vert is set to become the first human to own a planet.
According to a tweet from Grimes, music artist and partner of tech billionaire Elon Musk, Lil Uzi Vert is the first human in history to own a planet thanks to his purchase of WASP-127b, a gas planet that is larger than Jupiter.
Grimes wrote, “Apparently @LILUZIVERT owns this planet – just a heads up.
“Documentation almost complete for @LILUZIVERT to legally claim wasp-127b – this is huge! First human to legally own a planet.’
WASP-127b is a gas giant exoplanet and orbits a yellow dwarf star. The planet was discovered in 2016.
In a comment, Lil Uzi Vert confirmed the news and said, “‘I tried 2 surprise everyone. Still working on it.”
This new venture from Uzi comes after he infamously implanted a $24 million diamond into his forehead.
The 10-11 carat diamond was reportedly his most expensive purchase and the rapper paid the item off in instalments over a 4 year period.
Months later, Uzi removed the diamond and was heard revealing plans to wear it as a ring.
Outside of his outlandish purchases, Uzi has been releasing music too this year – with his track “Pump Up The Jam” appearing on the Space Jam: A New Legacy soundtrack.
