Although he might not be everybody’s cup of tea, there is no denying the influence Lil Uzi Vert has had on the landscape of American hip-hop this year.
He’s finished off 2016 with a big announcement; he’s inked a deal with a new record label. The Philadelphia native has reportedly signed on the dotted line with Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang.
During a homecoming concert last night, Uzi brought out Wiz for a performance of their collaboration “Pull Up”. Afterwards, Wiz pulled out a T.G.O.D. chain and put it around his alleged signings neck, before announcing the news to the crowd (and later on Twitter too).
It’s worth mentioning that Lil Uzi Vert is also signed to major label Atlantic Records, who also handle Taylor Gang’s distribution, so the deal makes a lot of business sense.
If this proves to be true, Wiz Khalifa has got something of a coup on his hands with this signing. Lil Uzi Vert will join a label roster that already boasts the likes of Ty Dolla $ign and Juicy J.
