The Liverpool Echo has posted a video of police surrounding an 18-year-old who later died at Liverpool One shopping centre. Police watchdog IPCC is investigating the death of the teenager, who became unwell whilst in the custody of police at the shopping centre. Unconfirmed reports said he tried to dive through the window of a food stall between John Lewis and the Hilton Hotel.

The video shows police surrounding him while he lies on the ground. There were at least six police cars present, along with a handful of police dogs.

Witnesses can be heard in the video, asking if the man is dead.

A Merseyside police spokesman has said the teenager had been detained by security and was in the custody of police following an “incident” at the shopping centre. He became unwell at 6:30pm.

An ambulance was called and paramedics took the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
