Liz Truss has become Britain’s fourth Conservative Prime Minister in 6 years after defeating Rishi Sunak in the leadership race.
The hard fought win saw Rishi Sunak win 42% of the votes, with Liz Truss taking the majority with 57.4% of the vote. After winning, Liz Truss was quick to declare that she had many plans to solve the great number of problems that seem to be crippling large parts of the country at the moment.
Namely crisis with the increasing cost of energy bills, which could include an enforced freeze on the price, to stop them spiralling out of control. Liz Truss has also declared that she wishes to reverse the increase in national insurance and is reportedly discussing a £100BN package to combat these economic hardships.
Many people had also speculated that a potential snap election would be on the cards, but Liz Truss ruled that out, promising to deliver a Tory Party victory in the next scheduled general election in 2024.
