After releasing a string of singles in recent times, Loyle Carner has finally gifted us with his sophomore album Not Waving, But Drowning.
The new 15-track LP from Loyle Carner is made up of the several elements which have come to define the rapper’s sound over the years: vivid storytelling, effective imagery and smooth lyricism.
Also attached to Loyle’s sound is his authenticity and this aspect of his artistry is most prominent on the album’s intro “Dear Jean” – a heart-warming song dedicated to his mother – and on the outro “Dear Ben” where his mum offers some kind words to her son.
On the album, the rapper is joined by a number of artists who all add to the polished feel of the record such as his frequent collaborator Tom Misch, Jorja Smith, Sampha and more.
