M Huncho has recently unveiled an impressive body of work called My Neighbours Don’t Know, which is a 19-track glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes of the rapper’s double life. The secrecy that revolves around his identity and shapes the way everything unfolds around him is carefully dissected and put under the lens on My Neighbours Don’t Know, which was given a full outstanding rendition for a sold out album launch show at Outernet.

The 60-minute performance was a compilation of fresh new songs off the project and all time classics that have been pivoting M Huncho’s career over the years. New songs such as “tell me how you feel”, “myb”, and “thought you was real” were an introduction into the rapper’s world which he has been carefully portraying not only sonically, but also visually since the release of his album using a house set up as the main element to emphasise the picture that he paints through his music.

The show at Outernet was not only a showcase of M Huncho’s latest musical offering but also of his personality, professionalism, and high attention to detail. The stage set up revolved around the aforementioned house theme and it carefully depicted a living room and a bedroom where M Huncho’s friends and crew played different roles: in the living room his friends were gathered around playing games on the playstation, in the bedroom M Huncho’s guitarist sat on the side of the bed playing his guitar, and on the far left side of the stage were his DJ and MC actively engaging with the crowd. These elements combined with the introspective character of the rapper’s new album and the warm timbre of his voice delivered a very personal, intimate experience which was very well received by the audience.

The stage was graced by guest appearances from the likes of Slim, Nafe Smallz and Steve Drive who performed “any minute”, “stop calling” and “look over your shoulder”. M Huncho and Slim also previewed an exclusive track together, leaving the audience guessing about a potential release date. The two might have more collabs in the vault that have been stalled by Slim’s incarceration in 2019 as M Huncho revealed during the show that Slim was arrested on the same day that he was supposed to perform as part of his London leg of the Utopia tour.

My Neighbours Don’t Know delivers a memorable experience both sonically and visually and the show at Outernet was a statement of M Huncho’s creativity, pen game, vision and outstanding attention to detail. The rapper ended his set with a heartfelt speech thanking his fans for their love and support and also standing united with the people of Palestine, reminding people how important it is to be united as humans and help others.

Needless to say M Huncho is not just a rapper, or someone behind a mask, he is a conscious voice for the people who overcome their condition and want to cultivate good within the bad around them. That, aside from his unquestionable talent and perfected craft, make him one of the most prominent star figures not only within the UK’s music scene but also of this generation.
