A man in Liverpool was caught by police with a haul of cannabis worth £265,000 and his reasons for having it are pretty damn hilarious.
Scot Riley, 33, told the police that the reason he was hiding the monstrous weed stash at his brothers, was so that he could smoke it all, claiming it was all for his personal usage.
Police arrested Scot and his brother Kevin, 27, plus their friend Lee Dickson, 32, when they raided the home back in October of last year.
During questioning he said he had the large amount of ganj because he “was going to smoke the lot”, despite also claiming he was just an “occasional social user”.
Riley later admitted to the feds that he had been asked by an acquaintance to store the smoke in exchange for £2000, but a larger quantity than he has expected arrived.
All three defendants plead guilty to possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Judge Robert Warnock said, “I’m satisfied each of you found yourself involved in a degree of drug handling that was beyond your expectation.
“The fact is you haven’t just put yourself in custody, you have also caused considerable distress and upset to your family, extended family and where relevant young children.”
Kevin received 20 months in jail, while his friend Dickson got 16 months behind bars. Reportedly Scott – the man who claimed he was going to smoke it all – smiled as he got two years.
