A team from the Championship have got their eyes on the Italian football star Mario Balotelli, according to reports.
Sky Sports have reported Barnsley F.C have submitted an enquiry into signing Balotelli who is currently a free agent after having his contract terminated at Serie A club Brescia because he kept missing training sessions during summer.
Conversations have taken place between Barnsley’s co-chairmen Chien Lee and Paul Conway and Balotelli’s representatives.
Barnsley are currently 16th in the Championship table and believe signing Balotelli could boost their chances of remaining the in the league.
Balotelli hasn’t played in an English league since leaving Liverpool in 2015.
The Italian star is currently training with Serie D side Franciacorta to maintain his fitness.
