There have been whispers about a new Matrix film for a while now but it has now been confirmed – a fourth instalment of the franchise is on the way!
Variety has confirmed that Lana Wachowski will write and direct the film and Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will star in the movie.
Speaking on the upcoming film, Toby Emmerich – Chairman of Warner Bros Picture Group – said: “We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana.
“Lana is a true visionary – a singular and original creative filmmaker – and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”
Variety has also reported the franchise is looking for a “variety of actors” to play Morpheus, originally played by Laurence Fishburne.
The first Matrix film – released in 1999 – grossed millions at the box office and was followed by two other instalments, accompanied by video games, comics and books.
At current, there is no release date for The Matrix 4 but keep it locked here on GRM for more information.
