Maya Jama has announced she’s leaving BBC Radio 1 after two years at the station.

The presenter took to her socials to announce the news, writing: “I’ve made the very difficult decision not to continue my Radio 1 contract from June, As you know I have been juggling & There are a lot of exciting commitments happening that would mean I’m not able to dedicate the time needed to my weekly radio show.”

Maya Jama joined BBC Radio 1’s weekend line-up back in 2018, presenting shows on Friday and Saturday with her charismatic energy.
Her decision to leave BBC Radio is due to “exciting commitments” coming up which clash with her schedule on the radio station.

As well as hosting her own show on BBC Radio 1, Maya Jama has also been on our TV screens a lot in recent times, presenting for shows such as The Circle, Cannonball and Don’t Hate The Playaz.

Maya hasn’t revealed what her upcoming commitments are just yet but we’re looking forward to seeing what she has lined up.
