The officers arrived at the rave and were “attacked” by crowds armed with bottles, chairs and a petrol bomb was thought to be launched in their direction.
As they tired to regain order, the crowds charged at them, set fire to bins and yelled “scum” and “pigs”.
In a statement, released at 07:00am this morning, a spokesperson for the Met said: “As well as attacking police the group also caused criminal damage to private vehicles and property in the area.
“The disorder and criminal damage around the venue has stopped.
“There is one report of a member of the public, a man, being treated by London Ambulance Service.”
The spokesperson added: “Four of our officers are being treated for injuries at the scene and a number of arrest had been made.”
The rave, advertised on Facebook and labelled ‘Scumoween: A Nightmare On Scum Street’, had 13,000 invited guest but only 4,000 said they planned to attend.
On Wednesday, the organisers posted the following on the social networking site: “Stay peaceful, stay calm.
“Patience and numbers is in our favour. Do not antagonise the police. We don’t need to.
“At the end of the day we want to leave them remembering our good attitudes, we just came to dance, we are not their enemy.”
The ‘Scumoween’ organisers wrote following after the rave closed:
“To all who were peaceful and danced the night with good energy well done.
“To those who were aggressive, police and ravers alike!
“Ravers did not react! Until the police started bashing people senseless and letting their dogs so at people unrestrained.
“Many people tried to engage dialogue from inside, and the police did want to talk peaceful resolutions.
“A display of military strength by our guardians seemed the message that was important to send to the youth this Halloween.
“Why can’t they use the same force with paedophile elites?
“People talking to each other solves more than confrontation.”
Below is footage from the scene:
Did you attend the rave? If so where the police heavy handed or did they use reasonable force?
