Move over Keanu Reeves. The iconic Matrix movie franchise is set to return to our screens with a new lead; Black Panther and Creed star Michael B Jordan.
The award-winning actor is reportedly set to star in the Zak Penn written screenplay which is set to be produced by Warner Bros in collaboration with Michael B Jordan’s own production company Outlier Society Productions.
Currently under the code name Project Ice Cream, little is known about the new Matrix movie; we will have to wait to find out the plot, the direction of the film, the release date and the rest of the cast but we do know that production will begin next year in Chicago.
Michael B Jordan also announced earlier this year that he is working on a drama series entitled 61st Street which will also take place in Chicago.
The original Matrix film was released in 1999 and starred Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishbourne in the simulated reality themed film which grossed millions at the box office. There were three films in the franchise as well as video games, comics and books.
It is not yet known if the film’s original stars will reprise their roles but for those wanting more from Keanu Reeves, the actor recently announced his involvement with the new Xbox video game Cyberpunk 2077 during an appearance at the E3 gaming event.
