American actor Michael K. Williams, one of the stars from The Wire, has been found dead in his New York apartment.
Law enforcement sources confirmed to the New York Post that Williams had been found by his nephew in his Brooklyn apartment on Monday afternoon.
According to the Post, Drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment, which indicates the possibility of an overdose.
Williams rose to fame following his role as Omar Little on HBO’s The Wire. He was also known for his roles as Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire and Jack Gee in the HBO biopic Bessie among many others.
He is currently nominated for a 2021 Emmy Award for best supporting actor in a drama series for Lovecraft Country.
His cause of death is yet to be revealed but police aren’t treating it as suspicious.
“No foul play indicated,” a police source said. “No forced entry, the apartment was in order.”
