Former UEFA president Michael Platini has been arrested for suspicion of corruption related to the 2022 World Cup.
Platini has been taken into custody following an investigation looking at Qatar being named as hosts for the upcoming World Cup.
Qatar were controversially awarded the title of 2022 World Cup hosts almost a decade ago.
Authorities began to investigate the 2022 World Cup on grounds of private corruption, criminal association, influence peddling and benefiting from influence peddling.
Platini has been at the centre of corruption claims after former Fifa president Sepp Blatter accused Platini of backing out of an agreement which would have allowed the United States to host the 2022 tournament.
Blatter also claims Platini changed his mind after he met the Prince of Qatar, Tamin bin Hamad al-Thani.
Platini has denied such allegations, stating the meeting did not influence his vote on the 2022 World Cup hosts.
