As part of a campaign against bullying, a school in Liverpool’s Mersyside has decided to ban pupils wearing designer coats.

The ban due to come in after Christmas, has been introduced to specifically target poverty shaming. The school pioneering this idea is Woodchurch High School in Birkenhead, which recently sent letters to parents informing them of the pending change.

The school has vouched to ban any children’s coats which sell for between £400 and £1,000, which includes brands like Moncler, Canada Goose and Pyrenex.
