Yes, you read the headline right. Earlier today (May 29), it was reported that a gang of monkeys attacked a laboratory assistant before escaping with a batch of coronavirus blood test samples.
The bizarre incident which took place at Meerut Medical College in Delhi, India saw a group of monkeys snatch test samples from three patients before fleeing. Later on, one of the culprits was spotted in a tree chewing one of the samples collection kits.
Since lockdown measures have been implemented in the city, the monkeys have become increasingly problematic as they have been taking to the usually crowded streets of Delhi to cause havoc.
After recovering the sample boxes later, the Meerut medical college’s superintendent – Dheeraj Raj – reported they were not damaged, saying: “They were still intact and we don’t think there is any risk of contamination or spread.”
Raj also said the three people’s whose tests had been stolen were re-tested for coronavirus.
