Indie-Rock singer Morrissey has a reputation for stirring up controversy and his latest move adds to his long list of questionable actions.

The singer, aged 57, is preparing to release a t-shirt with a picture of the late James Baldwin – a prominent writer and civil rights activist. The picture will be featured alongside the lyric from a track by Morrissey’s former band, “I wear black on the outside ‘cause black is how I feel on the inside”. The top gives the lyric a brand new meaning and has raised questions about Morrissey’s reasons for making the top.

Morrissey is said to be a fan of Baldwin’s but the top is highly controversial and has been considered racist by many.

The t-shirts are due to go on sale when the singer begins his upcoming North American tour. Regardless of his intentions, the t-shirt is very problematic.
