Mortal Kombat will be immortalised on your cinema screens soon.

James Wan, the director behind several blockbuster films including Saw, The Conjuring, Furious 7 and Aquaman, will bring his creative talents to the film adaptation of the video game which is set to be released in March of 2021.

The last Mortal Kombat film was released 22 years ago in 1997 so this new film is definitely long overdue.

Production has begun in Australia but no further details about the cast or the plot have been revealed so fans will have to wait patiently to discover which actors will bring their favourite characters from the Mortal Kombat universe to life.

The movie announcement comes weeks after the release of the latest instalment of the game, Mortal Kombat 11.

The new game introduced character customisation and provided fans with new storylines and gameplay. Fans applauded the game for its introduction of new extremely brutal finishers which took the unique element of the game to a new level.
