A study conducted by home security experts at ADT has revealed the areas in the UK most at risk of burglary.
The research examined the highest and lowest number of burglary offences in the past year, as well as areas experiencing the highest increase in burglaries.
Topping the list is Greater Manchester, with a staggering 23,401 reported burglaries, equating to 821.58 burglaries per 100,000 people. The city of Manchester had the highest number of burglaries within the region, followed by Bolton and Salford.
Cleveland takes the second spot with 4,632 reported burglaries, translating to 812.92 burglaries per 100,000 people. Middlesbrough had the highest number of burglaries in the area.
South Yorkshire ranks third with 11,467 reported burglaries and 810.33 burglaries per 100,000 people. Sheffield recorded the highest number of burglaries within South Yorkshire.
Whilst some might anticipate the capital to be one of the worst affected, Greater London came in at fifth, with 598.65 burglaries per 100,000 people.
The study provides essential information for homeowners in these regions to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their homes and belongings from potential burglaries.
