As if we needed another fiasco to give us even less faith in politicians. The latest scandal involves Labour MP Keith Vaz.
The married politician arranged to meet two male escorts at his flat in London. As if committing adultery wasn’t bad enough, he also agreed to pay for cocaine for the escorts, although he has allegedly said he didn’t want any himself.
Mr Vaz, who has been an MP for Leicester East since 1987, also asked the escorts to bring poppers. Ironically, he defended the drug in parliament when it was facing a ban, so it seems that his defence of the drug wasn’t entirely altruistic.
The plot thickens however, when it comes to light that Keith Vaz was the chairman of the select committee that has been looking into prostitution laws in the country.
Since the scandal, he has stepped down from his former position.
