An MP has been forced to apologise after appearing naked during a parliament Zoom video meeting.
Not realising that his camera was on, the MP accidentally exposed himself to his colleagues via Zoom as he changed into his work clothes.
Canadian MP Will Amos made the blunder earlier this week and quickly apologised via Twitter.
Mr Amos said, “I made a really unfortunate mistake today, and obviously I’m embarrassed by it.
“My camera was accidentally left on as I changed into work clothes after going for a jog.
“I sincerely apologize to all my colleagues in the House. It was an honest mistake and it won’t happen again.”
Mr Amos received some light-humoured responses from his colleagues at first.
One said, “It may be necessary to remind the members, especially the male ones, that a tie and jacket are obligatory, but so are a shirt, boxer shorts or pants.
“We have seen that the member is in great physical shape, but I think members should be reminded to be careful and control the camera well.”
However the harmless act turned sour and received global attention and outraged responses from many when a picture that was taken of the MP during the Zoom as he stood nude was subsequently shared online.
Government house leader, Pablo Rodriguez said, “It is mean-spirited and life-changing for one of our colleagues.
“Taking a photo of someone who is changing clothes, and in the nude and sharing it without their consent could very well be criminal.”
The act violates section 162.1 of Canada’s criminal code which makes it an offence to share “an intimate image of a person knowing that the person depicted in the image did not give their consent to that conduct”.
In related Zoom faux pas, a man slapped his wife his penis whilst she was in a work zoom meeting.
